Active-Adult Homes
Age-restricted housing is one option in Indian Land — not the whole market.
Start With the Rules
Every age-restricted community sets its own policies within federal law. Read them before falling for a floor plan.
Before You Tour
Read the active-adult living guide for how age-restricted rules generally work, and bring the ownership checklist to any sales or association meeting. Ask specifically about dues, maintenance coverage by home type, and any separate club memberships — our HOA amenities guide explains why those often differ.
Indian Land's best-known age-restricted community is Sun City Carolina Lakes. Most other Indian Land communities are unrestricted and open to buyers of every age; see Communities and Compare Communities. For interiors planned for the long term, read Interior Design for Flexible Living.
What to Confirm in a 55+ Community
Age-restricted communities have their own occupancy rules, which can affect who may live in the home, rentals, and resale. Amenities and clubs may be included in dues or offered separately. Read the documents and use our active-adult ownership checklist.
Our active-adult living guide explains the general rules, and the Sun City Carolina Lakes guide covers the area's best-known 55+ community.
Practical Considerations
Single-level living, low-maintenance yards, and nearby healthcare and shopping often matter most. Test drives to the places you go most; see US-521 commuting. For updates to a home you buy, see renovations and interior design. Taxes for a primary residence follow the property-tax guide.
