Report a Barrier
If something on this site is hard to use, tell us using the form below.
Our Approach
We design for keyboard navigation, visible focus states, descriptive link text, sufficient color contrast, and respect for reduced-motion preferences. Images carry meaningful alternative text or are marked decorative. Forms have labels and clear error messages.
We test pages at mobile and desktop sizes and with keyboard-only navigation, and we aim to meet WCAG 2.2 AA. Some third-party content linked from our guides, such as county or school district tools, is outside our control; if one of those tools is inaccessible, tell us and we will look for an alternative official source to reference. Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy describe how submitted information is handled.
If you encounter a barrier, include the page address and what you were trying to do. We also welcome corrections to content. Read more about the publication on About or browse every page from the sitemap.
How the Site Is Built for Access
Every page uses one main heading followed by an ordered heading structure, so screen readers can move through sections in a predictable way. Navigation, menus, and forms are usable with a keyboard, and focus moves into and out of the mobile menu. Photographs carry descriptive alternative text where they add information and are marked decorative where they do not. Links describe their destination — for example "South Carolina property taxes" rather than "click here".
Long guides such as the Indian Land area guide and Compare Communities are written in plain language, with tables and lists used for structure rather than decoration.
Reporting a Barrier
If any part of the site is hard to use with your browser, screen reader, magnifier, or keyboard, please describe the page and what happened through our contact page. Include the page address if you can. Accessibility reports are treated like factual corrections: we log them, fix them, and note significant changes on the corrections page. You can also browse every page from the plain-text sitemap or use site search.
